NC Humanities Council - NC Reads Statewide Book Club In-Person

This book club was supported by North Carolina Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, www.nchumanities.org

Join us in participating in the NC Reads Book Club, sponsored by the NC Humanities Council, as we read 5 books hand picked by the NC Humanities Council covering topics such as racial, social, and gender equity and the history and culture of North Carolina.

This book club will have scholars in various fields facilitate discussion amongst participants and provide insight on various topics over the course of 5 books.

These books may be available to participants for free, through a first come first serve basis.

The books in order, one per month, February - July (Skipping June), are as follows:

  1. Beyond Innocence - The Life Sentence of Darryl Hunt by Phoebe Zerwick
  2. Poster Girls by Meredith Ritchie
  3. American Refuge: True Stories of the Refugee Experience by Diya Abdo
  4. The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb
  5. Welcome to the Circus of Baseball by Ryan McGee
